Where do we go from here?

One way to address possible racial bias in our industry is to strive towards diverse representation among actuaries.

When this timeline was first being researched and developed in 2020/2021, the insurance industry was beginning its latest effort to address possible racial bias in insurance practices. With the information provided in this timeline, actuaries and insurance professionals can apply their expertise to solving the issues that remain in the insurance industry today, as well as address and prevent such issues that may arise in the future.

One way to address possible racial bias in our industry is to strive towards diverse representation among actuaries. The mission of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) is to increase the number of successful Black actuaries through programs and partnerships that address their underrepresentation in the profession. Anyone who wishes to help further this mission, regardless of their race, can join the IABA as a member, sponsor the organization, or volunteer in one of our many mentoring programs directly supporting current and future Black actuaries.
